Therapy for ADHD
ADHD can have profound impacts on your life and therapy can help you manage these impacts more effectively.
Working with ADHD is a multi-facetted approach. It needs to involve proper diagnosis by a Doctor or medical specialist and support that suits your needs and wants. The symptoms of ADHD are similar and yet unique for everyone. It can impacts so many aspects of life from physical and mental health, work, school, recreation, relationships...
Maybe you managed your ADHD up until now but find your strategies are no longer working. Maybe you have wondered if you have ADHD?
Do you struggle with focus (too much or none), impulsivity (risk taking), emotional regulation, hyperactivity (physical or mental), addiction, anxiety, burnout, planning and carrying through on things? These could be signs of ADHD and there is more nuance than that.
Often by young adulthood we have developed many coping mechanisms and ways to mask with varying success and then with the onset of more responsibility we start to feel overwhelmed. You are not alone in this experience.
ADHD historically was studied in young boys and believed to be a challenge unique to them - some posed you could grow out of it. However, we now know differently. ADHD can be present in all genders and it is something that doesn't go away.
And if we have a diagnosis of ADHD how do we process the emotional aspects of that? Emotions can be anywhere from ambivalence to sadness to anger.
